Blueberries have become increasingly popular in recent years and are not difficult to grow but they do require acidic soil. They can be grown in containers if your garden soil is not suitable.

 

Although blueberries are usually grown for their fruit they are also very attractive with coloured stems in the winter, spring blossom and autumn leaf colour.

Calling themselves "the home of English blueberries" this site has a wealth of information about blueberries including choosing varieties, cultivation techniques, recipes and a shop selling blueberry bushes and related products.

Thompson & Morgan

Thompson & Morgan sell an increasingly wide range of fruit trees and bushes. This now includes the blueberry varieties "Chandler" and "Earliblue". These are also available as a collection.

Ken Muir

Based in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex the Ken Muir nursery offers a number of varieties by mail order. These include popular varieties such as "Bluetta", "Herbert" and "Bluecrop" - all of which are suitable for growing in containers. They can also suppy a suitable fertiliser for your blueberry bushes.

Chris Bowers & Sons

This specialist fruit nursery, based in Norfolk, offers one of the widest choices of trees and bushes available.  They sell a range of blueberry bush varieties including a number of new cultivars such as "Darrow", "Misty" and "Chandler" as well as the more established "Patriot" and "Bluecrop".

This leading nursery has been supplying wholesale for more than 40 years, and now also supply trees and bushes mail-order to the general public.  Do check out the “fruit growers handbook” on their website which contains plenty of good advice.   They sell a range of blueberry bushes including "Bluecrop", "Jersey" and "Sunshine Blue". They also sell cranberry bushes - a close relative of the blueberry.
