Climbing plants give height to a garden and can also be used to cover ugly features.   Whether you are looking for a virginia creeper or boston ivy to cover a wall, or a passionflower (passiflora) to enhance a wall, you will find a good variety of climbers shown on the websites listed below.

Crocus Online Garden Centre

Crocus, based in Windlesham, Surrey, has an excellent selection of climbers available at most times of year. These include boston ivy (Parthenocissus tricuspidata “Veitchii”  and virginia creeper (Parthenocissus quinquefolia),  japanese honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica), and both chinese and japanese wisteria.  There are also useful features on jasminum and fragrant summer flowering climberss.   Online ordering.

Burncoose Nurseries

Burncoose plant nursery is set in 30 acres of woodland near Redruth in Cornwall. They can supply an extensive range of climbers including evergreen varieties ranging from the passionflower (passiflora) to ivy (hedera helix),  the semi-evergreen akebia quinata,  and both deciduous and evergreen varieties of honeysuckle (lonicera).  They also list more than 20 species of wisteria.  Orders and payment can be made on line or by mail order.

Buckingham Nurseries

Buckingham Nurseries, based in Buckingham, has a well-established mail order business.  They have a good range including Jasminum nudiflorum, Jasminum officinale, virginia creeper (parthenocissus), a new honeysuckle (Lonicera "Mandarin") and the popular Hedera helix “Goldheart”. Order through the website or by phone or mail if you prefer.

Glenville Nurseries

This small family-run nursery, based in Wisbeech, specialises in young shrubs. Most plants are supplied in 7-8cm pots.  Their range of climbers include several varieties of Lonicera japonica and Hedera helix and many others such as climbing hydrangea, Clematis, Solanum, Sollya and Vitis. Orders can be placed and paid for through the web site. Payments can be made by other means if you prefer.

Norfields, gold medal winners at Chelsea and Hampton Court in 2005, offer range of climbers.   Their catalogue can be viewed on their website and includes Akebia quinata, Campis, Wisteria, Lapageria, Tracholospermum, and Dicentra amongst others.  Orders can be place by mail.

Fir Tree Farm Nursery

Fir tree farm plant nursery is based in Cornwall and boasts a huge number of perennials and also a substantial collection of climbing plants.  Climbers include varieties of passionflower (Passiflora), Lonicera japonica and Akebia quinata and many rare varieties such as Sandersonia, Bomerea, and Calystegia.   The full catalogue can be viewed on the website but ordering is by mail only.
